How to Customize a Menu in The New Flat Rate App

You can customize any Menu within the TNFR app to create the perfect experience for your customer when you come across a specific, specialized, or commercial job.

 

The New Flat Rate is the only pricing program in the industry with prebuilt presentations for 95% of the jobs you’ll be running. But what about the other 5%? Occasionally, you may encounter a job that the correct menu might not cover or need adjusting. It may be due to a physical location, a specific spec or component, or the verbiage needs to differ slightly.

 

Examples might include but not be limited to:

– A commercial job that will take more time, parts, and labor than the menu prices for.

  • TNFR is set up and ready for any type of job, whether it’s residential, commercial, or industrial, but the pricing is really built for residential and light commercial. Therefore, this customizable menu feature will solve this issue, allowing you to create menus for all commercial and industrial jobs.  

– A specific repair that is a very once-in-a-blue-moon situation.

– A specific job that is more niche than what your company specializes in.

 

To start customizing your TNFR Menus, follow these steps:

 

Open the TNFR App and select the menu you’d like to customize

  • Open the TNFR app.
  • Go to the module you want to customize and click the ‘Access Menu Pricing’ button.
  • Click on the area or type of repair or replacement you’re doing in the index.
  • Click on the exact repair or replacement you want to customize.

 

Decide on a Menu Level

  • Remember, you can go up a level if needed and will need to decide on a level before you edit your menu. The reason you move up a level depends on two things: time and materials. For example, if you need certain parts and have to travel to get them or are working in a difficult-to-access spot, that takes more time to work. Watch the ‘Choose a Page’ video in your training lab in your TNFR app to learn more about how to pick the correct menu.

 

Edit the Menu

  • Once you’ve decided on the menu you want to edit, click ‘Customize This Menu.’
  • Click the green pencil icon on the right of the metal you want to edit to edit specific things about that metal, such as the name, price, details, etc.
  • Once edits are complete, click the ‘Save Custom Pricing Menu’ button at the bottom.
  • It will take up to one minute to send and save your creation to the TNFR dashboard.
  • The task code will start with ‘X’ for a new custom menu.
  • Remember, you can toggle between the customer description and the tech handbook.

 

Add New Menu to Cart  

 

Once you’re ready to present, click on ‘Add X______ Level.’

  • In the pop-up window, name your menu. The name will be viewable to your customer, so type in the location you’re working on and the system.
  • Then, name your call type.
  • Now, click the green button in the bottom right-hand corner.
  • Hurray! Your project is in your cart.

 

View and Present Your New Customized Presentation Menu

  • Click on your cart in the top right-hand corner.
  • Now click on the box with the name of the menu you created to view your new customized menu.
  • Present the menu to your customer using The New Flat Rate Script.

 

Checkout

  • Click on your logo at the top of the page to return to your home screen.
  • Pro tip: Find your new customized menu saved in the module you created it in, and at the bottom of your index, you’ll find ‘CUSTOM MENUS.’ This is where your customized menus will live from now on.

 

Invoicing Information

  • Invoicing info you need to know: When you check out, if you’re not using the new flat rate invoice, and if you use a system we integrate with, like Housecall Pro or Service Titan, it will automatically be sent to that.
  • If you use a different invoicing system, since this menu is brand new, you’ll need to put in the line items when you create your invoice.

Customizable Menus App Update FAQs

Q: Is this feature accessible to all users, or is a purchase required for an upgrade?

A: All modules possess the capability to be customized. No upgrade is necessary.

Q: If I customize a menu, can I still access the original version, or are the changes permanent?

A: The original menus remain accessible in their respective sections, while the customized versions are under ‘Custom Menus.’

Q: How do I locate my custom menus?

A: Open the TNFR App and choose the module in which you built the custom menu. This will take you to the index. Scroll to the bottom until you see the ‘Custom Menus’ section. 

Q: Will I be able to use my custom menus instantly?

A: After you customize a menu, our system will take up to a full minute to sync your data on the backend. Within a minute, a green bar appears at the top of your screen that says, “Success – Data Synced.” After displaying this message, you can find your new menu in the module under the ‘custom menus’ section.

Q: Can I use my custom menu without the internet?

A: You can still use the custom menu you create, but it will not sync with the admin dashboard until you have service again. Also, other app users in your company cannot access your menu once you connect to the internet and the data syncs.

Q: Can I place my customized menu in a section other than 'custom menus'?

A: Currently, no. But if this is a feature you would like, please send a request to [email protected].

Q: Is it possible to delete a custom menu?

A: Owners can log into the admin dashboard, navigate to manage tasks, and under ‘Custom Menus,’ turn any menu on or off, then publish changes. NOTE: When you publish changes, this will also post any draft saved prices you may have in the price builder.

Q: Is it possible to turn off the customizable feature?

A: Currently not, but this option can become available if users show enough interest. Please email [email protected] to request this function. 

Q: Can I customize a menu that is already custom?

A: Yes. When you customize a menu that is already custom, you will create a whole new custom menu. So you will have both copies.
