We've probably all attended some type of event or training where we left feeling excited and motivated, ready to make all kinds of changes.
…And then Monday morning rolls around.
The phone starts ringing, employees need something, customers have questions, and suddenly all those great ideas get pushed to the side. Before you know it, you're right back to doing things the same way you've always done them.
That's exactly what we don't want happening after MasterMind.
We want to bring contractors together who understand what it's like to be in each other's shoes. People who have experienced the same struggles, worked through similar challenges, and are willing to share what's worked for them and what hasn't. Because sometimes all it takes is hearing how someone else handled a situation to completely change the way you look at something in your own business.
And that's really what Freedom Builders University MasterMind is all about.
Our goal isn't for contractors to leave with a notebook full of ideas that never get looked at again. We want them leaving with actual things they can start implementing in their businesses.
"We don't just leave inspired; we leave with multiple actionable takeaways we can immediately plug into our company."
Kimberly Milligan-Perez, Amelia's Best Comfort Solutions (Leadership Growth Summit attendee)
It's one thing to hear someone talk about improving your business. It's another thing to actually sit down, work through your challenges, and figure out what steps you need to take to make those improvements happen.
Whether that's developing better processes, improving your leadership skills, building a stronger team, or finding ways to become more profitable, we want contractors to leave feeling like they have a clear direction. And even if you only walk away with two or three things that make a real difference in your business, think about the impact those changes could have over the next year.
Let's be honest, running a business can sometimes feel like you're figuring everything out on your own.
Think about it. How often do you get to sit down with a room full of people who understand exactly what you deal with every day? Not people trying to sell you something. Not people who have never actually run a home service business. But other contractors who have been through the same ups and downs you're experiencing.
"It's great to come together with other owners/top management without worrying about it being competitors. It's about learning from each other."
Christie Zumm, Popa HVAC (Leadership Growth Summit attendee)
In an industry where businesses are often competing against one another, it's pretty awesome to see contractors come together and genuinely want to help each other succeed.
Someone might be struggling with hiring the right people while another contractor in the room has already built a great hiring process. Someone else might be trying to figure out how to improve their pricing or get their technicians performing more consistently.
Everyone brings something different to the table. And you don't have to have everything figured out to contribute to the conversation. Sometimes sharing something that didn't work for your company can be just as helpful as sharing something that did.
Yes, we're bringing in speakers and industry experts. Yes, we're having workshops and group discussions. But some of the most valuable conversations might happen during lunch, over dinner, or while everyone is hanging out during a team activity.
That's why we intentionally build time into MasterMind for everyone to get to know each other outside of the sessions. When you're spending several days with people who understand your industry, you're not just exchanging business cards. You're building relationships with people you can continue learning from long after the event is over.
"If you have not been to a MasterMind event, YOU NEED TO. You will come away with new strategies and - most importantly - you build relationships that matter."
Kevin Kaufman, Mechanical Man
Imagine having a group of other business owners you can reach out to when you're dealing with something difficult. Maybe you're considering making a big change in your company and want another perspective. Maybe you're trying something new and want to know if anyone else has done it before. Or maybe you just need to talk to someone who understands how stressful running a business can be.
Honestly, sometimes just knowing you're not the only one dealing with certain challenges can be a relief in itself.

One of the biggest things we focus on through Freedom Builders University is helping contractors create more freedom in their businesses and personal lives. Because let's be real, most people don't start a business because they want to work 70 hours a week for the rest of their lives.
They start a business because they want to build something of their own. They want financial freedom, flexibility, and hopefully the ability to spend more time doing the things they enjoy with the people they love. But somewhere along the way, a lot of business owners end up becoming the person everyone depends on for absolutely everything.
And while having a successful company is great, what's the point if you can never step away from it?
"FBU has been a resource that has changed and reshaped my entire vision of our service business."
Doug Heath, Heath Mechanical Service
Sometimes the biggest impact isn't necessarily increasing your revenue or hiring more employees. Sometimes it's changing the way you think about your business altogether.
Maybe you realize you don't have to be involved in every single decision. Maybe you start developing leaders within your company who can take some of that responsibility off your plate. Or maybe you finally make time to work on the things you've been putting off because you've been too busy handling everything else. Those changes can have a huge impact, not just on your business, but on your personal life too.
We aren't trying to make MasterMind some huge event where hundreds of people sit in a room and listen to presentations all day. We intentionally keep it smaller because we want everyone to have the opportunity to participate.
We want contractors to feel comfortable asking questions, talking about what's happening in their businesses, and being honest about the things they're struggling with. Because no business is perfect. Even the most successful contractors have challenges they're trying to work through.
"MasterMind was totally worth it. I learned and brought back so many ideas and strategies to work on. I highly recommend it to every contractor."
Bob Culley, Cimco, Inc.
We want people to feel like the time they spent away from their businesses was worth it. Not just because they enjoyed the event, but because they went home with something that actually helped them move forward.
We're getting ready for our 2027 Freedom Builders University MasterMind, happening January 25th–29th in New Orleans, Louisiana. And while we're excited about the speakers, workshops, and everything else we're planning, what I'm probably most excited about is seeing the relationships and conversations that come out of bringing everyone together.
Whether you've attended MasterMind before or you're considering coming for the first time, our goal is the same. We want you to walk away with new ideas, meaningful relationships, and a plan to continue building a business that gives you more freedom.
Because at the end of the day, MasterMind isn't just about growing your company.
It's about building a business that supports the life you actually want to live.
